E: Contact Amy B. De Renzo | P: 502.420.2862 | F: 888.400.6919 Amy was born in Fort Gaines, Georgia and lived with her parents and two brothers in southeast Alabama. After graduating from Houston County High School in 1993, she received a degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of South Alabama. Although Amy always had a passion for helping others, it was during her involvement in student government that she began to volunteer with on-campus groups and routinely assist disabled students with their daily needs such as grocery shopping and getting to and from class. She also spent many hours with Habitat for Humanity, helping to build houses for those less fortunate. During her time at the University of South Alabama, Amy became keenly aware of the role the campus police took in scaring students on campus. Thereafter, she took a special interest in researching the abuses of power of some campus police forces. It was then that Amy decided she would take her passion for helping others one step further and attend law school so that she could do her part to ensure due process for those in the criminal justice system. Amy attended Ohio Northern University, where she received her law degree and developed an interest in family law. Amy had visited extended family in Louisville for many years as a child and always enjoyed the city. Amy met her husband Josh while attending Law School. After graduating from law school, she and Josh decided the best place to raise children was in Louisville, Kentucky and they moved to Louisville to begin their law careers. Amy began her career as a Jefferson County Public Defender and currently has been appointed by Jefferson County Family Court Judge Paula F. Sherlock to represent parents, on a weekly basis, in cases involving the Cabinet for Heath and Family Services (more commonly known as CPS). She has enjoyed working in that position since 2006.
